Oak Grove Baptist Church (OGBC) was founded in 1890 and has been a beacon of light in the Magnolia and Eastern Area of Suffolk for over 130 years.

Please note this FAQ section is based on traditional worship services on Sunday and throughout the week. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic many things have changed and are temporary on hold, but we believe God will deliver us and allow us to return to some sort of normalcy soon.

What are your service times?
Morning Worship - 8:00am* - 9:45am in the Sanctuary
*8:00am service added in response to the COVID-19 pandemic
Church School & Bible Study at 6:30pm Wednesdays in the Chapel
What is your dress attire?
No matter your personal style, you should feel comfortable at Oak Grove. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you. 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV) ... The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
Do you offer childcare?
Yes, the OGBC Children's Church is held every Sunday, except when the youth ministry is in charge or otherwise stated. An announcement will be made during offering to release participants. Parents/Guardians are to sign their children in and out of children's church.
How and when are visitors recognized?
If you are a first time visitor, you will be asked to stand at some point during the service so that you can be acknowledged and welcomed by the OGBC family. While you are standing, a greeter will come over to you and present you with a thank you gift.
Do you offer transportation?
Yes we do. Please call (757) 539-8012
Do you have Communion?
Yes, we have Communion every 3rd Sunday. Prepackaged communion cups are given to members as they exit the sanctuary.*
Can I participate in Communion if I am not a member?
Absolutely, we celebrate communion in an "open table" way - meaning that everyone is welcome to receive communion, you do not need to be a member. All that is asked is that you be seeking an open relationship with Jesus Christ.
Can I participate in/attend a church event if I am not a member?
Of course, you are welcome to participate in any event that is not a "Members Only" event.
